The project tells the story of an orphans’ home – a place that is by definition temporary, even if this temporariness lasts for years.

Showcasing the graduates of the Sputnik Photos Mentoring Programme 2023/2024. More photos will be on display at the

exhibitionin Warsaw, starting 26 April, 2025.

It shows its inhabitants, their present, their time growing up, building community, and developing a sense of belonging. It speaks of emotions and moments that will stay with them for a lifetime. Of places and activities that bring at least a bit of stability and a feeling of security. Of something to which our thoughts always return. Something that is only ours and tries to replace what is most lacking.

It also addresses the issues of common space and rotation of residents. At some point, you have to leave an orphanage, or you are transferred to another place and you need to face the ultimacy of the situation. New foster children come to start building their own room in ‘our’ space. They occupy our beds and our seats at the table. Is it therefore worth making yourself at home if you are faced with such prospects?

The photographs depict beds from children’s rooms, printed in the form of coloring sheets. On paper, the children have conveyed the visions of their dream spaces.
