RAFAL MILACH was born in Gliwice, Poland in 1978. Currently based in Warsaw where he works as a freelance photojournalist. His work was internationally awarded and exhibited. In 2002 Rafal published book “The Grey” on Upper Silesia one of the most industrial and ecologically devastated regions of Europe. Since 2004 Rafal has been working on new long-term project about youth in post soviet Russia. Rafal is represented by Anzenberger Agency.
Industrial Achinsk placed in eastern Siberia is the city where
the average monthly salary estimates around 150 USD.
Most of citizens work in AGK (Aluminium factory owned
by RUSAL the biggest Russian aluminium producer). Families, who can’t afford the regular education for their children, send them to military school. The school provides food, accommodation, uniforms and military discipline.
