10 KM FROM THE EU

A Ukrainian village Karpatskye is situated 10 km from the Polish border. From the nearest peak, one can see Bieszczady, a popular Polish mountain area. Karpatskye is an isolated place, as are many other villages along the new EU borders. However, the lives of young people in the village, where not much has changed since the communist times, do not seem to be affected by the village’s proximity to the European Union.
